About us

At the International Archival Congresses in London (1980) and Bonn (1984) municipal archivists from all over the world required greater activity by the International Council on Archives (ICA) on behalf of municipal archives. For this reason ICA charged the City Archivist of Zurich, Dr. Fritz Lendenmann, with the preparation of the foundation of the Section of municipal archives. Its establishment was approved by the General Assembly of ICA on the occasion of its session of August 24th 1988.
