Conferences and meetings
Introduction
Once a year the steering committee of the ICA/SMA assembles for an annual meeting to discuss the archival developments on the municipal level. A member of the steering committee is host and organizes the meeting. Every two year there is a special ICA/SMA conference. The ICA/SMA has organised during this term the archives panel in Rio de Janeiro (July 2002) and Valladolid (March 2003), and has collaborated with the 4th Meeting of Municipal Archives held within the 5th Mercusor Congress of Archivology (August 2003) .
Activities organised within the International Congress of Archives (Vienna, 23-29 August 2004).
The Steering Committee of the Section of Municipal Archives has organised a set of activities for the municipal archivists group. In this respect, the general assembly of the section will take place on Monday, 23 August (2. l5pm-5.00pm) with the goal of partly renewing the Steering Committee for the 2004-2008 period.
- 0n Tuesday, 24 August (2.3Opm- 3.45pm) a Seminar will be held on the practice of records selection in municipal archives, organised together with the Committee of Records Selection (ICA/CAP).
- On Thursday, 26 August (11.45am-1.00pm) a session will be devoted to presenting the current situation and perspectives of municipal archives in Austria, especially in the cities of Bregenz, Dornbirn, Linz and Vienna.
- Tuesday, 24August (2.3Opm-3.45pm) the International Bibliography of Municipal Archives will be presented, and so will also the current state of affairs of the cooperation project of Latin American municipal archives and archivists on Wednesday, 25 August (11 .45am- 1 .00pm); furthermore, a discussion on the change of image of municipal archives will take place the same day (4.l5pm-5.3Opm).
