Barcelona meeting

Members of the Steering Committee at work in Barcelona

The vice-chairman, the secretary and the former president of the Steering Committee met in Barcelona to discuss the content-management of our website. They also talked about the resignation of Ferdinand Opll as president of the section. They spoke also about the SMA program for the period 2004 - 2008 and about the Budapest meeting which will be held from June 2-5, 2005.

International Congress on Archives in Vienna

The International Congress on Archives has been held from 23-29 August 2004 under the theme “Archives, Memory and Knowledge”. More information is available on the event's website.

The activities organised by our Section included a session on the situation of the municipal archives in Austria (Bregenz, Dornbirn, Linz and Vienna), presented by Dr Ferdinand Opll. Our Section was also present in the presentation given by Ms Assumpció Colomer on the International Bibliography and in the report of Prof. Daise A. Oliveira on the progress of the co-operation project of the lberoamerican municipal archives. Lastly, we had a joint session with the Committee on Appraisal on evaluation experiences in the municipal archives. In the course of the Congress, elections were held for the mandatory renovation of the Steering Committee.
